Maria
Maria is part of a local collective in Zinacantan, Chiapas, Mexico, a group of 10 women, who work together to create beautiful Telares using their ancient techniques and special materials. goAlong was invited to visit their working spaces and see up close how they create their gorgeous pieces, explaining their intricate process, incredibly long hours required, and the state of their work.
Maria shared her special pride in the process to originate their unique ceremonial clothing for marriages, quinceaneras, and christenings. Their work is the story of generations of families, traditions, a way of life, and the entire community coming together to create beautiful products that they love to share with the world.
